Introductory remarks in both Russian and English were given by Ph.D., Professor Tatiana Svistunenko (Theory of Music and Composition Department), Fulbright Program Alumna.
The idea of this performance was suggested and worked out by Tatiana Svistunenko, who had been a Visiting Professor at Santa Barbara University in 2007/2008 Academic Year on her Fulbright Fellowship. The process of preparation has continued since the fall to discuss details of the pieces written for especially for musicians from Saratov.
Professor Joel Feigin has come to Saratov to participate in the performances and rehearsals. He gave several Master-Classes in Composition and was so kind as to listen to the pieces of students in composition. We are delighted that one of the performers Alexey Sayapin (tenor), Laureate of International Competition, has been invited by Placido Domingo to study at the Los Angeles Opera School. |
